Hannah Waring . Architect is a Brisbane—based architecture practice delivering residential projects with consideration and genuine passion for spaces and the people who inhabit them.

Hello 👋

I’m Hannah.

Over the last decade I've had the fortune to listen to people talk about their home - what they need, what works, and what matters. There has been a lot of conversation — a lot of laughs — and a lot learnt. I believe that architecture resonates the most in homes and I practice solely within the residential realm.

Homes are personal. I was fortunate to experience a home where morning sun hit the kitchen table, and you could see into the garden from all rooms. It was, and still is, my favourite building — and I love working on other people’s favourite buildings — spaces for how they like to grow and play.

Warm Regards ,

Hannah

If you high five with intrigue and would like to chat — awesome — I would love to hear from you. Say hello and let's organise a time to meet.

Approach ↓

Not sure where to begin, or what to expect?

0I •
We chat

We'll chat about your project, I'll tell you a little bit more about myself and hopefully tee up a time to shake hands. If you like my handshake, and you would like to know more I'll put together a services proposal for you to consider.

02 •
We tackle feasibility

Every project has a budget , every project has a brief — so we tackle feasibility next. We'll continue to get to know each other better and discuss if brief and budget align. We’ll also review planning regulations and talk about project approach and paperwork invovled.

03 •
We then look at opportunity

We start with the site and discuss it. We’ll then talk about the spaces you need, spaces you like, and look at how your site can provide those spaces. We will draw, diagram and discuss it together.

04 •
Investing in design and documentation

Design and documentation go hand in hand. We'll keep working together to refine the architecture, the interiors, select materials and work towards producing construction documentation so your home can get built and you can start enjoying it.

On site

I love to pull on site boots and can be a part of the building process. I warmly welcome conversation on why and how an architect can be involved from start to finish.

FAQs ↓

  • Building is a big investment – an architect is not only there to design and document, but they also drive the project through recommending the right consultants, being apart of the approval processes, helping procure the right builder for the job and overseeing the design’s delivery on site.

  • That’s a question I can answer after we meet!

There are a few different ways the industry approaches fees, these are - % of the construction cost, fixed fee based on a detailed brief, or hourly rate.

I use fixed-fee and offer two approaches to the design and documentation process to provide different price points for you to be able to choose what you need.

  • No! Architect’s can be involved in anything – a front fence, a small renovation, a brand-new home – the size of the project does not matter.

  • Having an idea of the spaces you would like to have, and the amount you can spend is a great start

  • Absolutely - there are a lot of people wondering the same question!

How the process is broken down easily allow you to undertake the first two phases to get a sense of what is possible to help make that decision.

  • There is no industry standard on the number of drawings in a drawing package, how detailed the drawings are, or how much time is spent in each phase testing and considering design options.

When talking to multiple architect’s it’s important to understand what their end output is - if there is a large variance in fee, it’s likely the comparison isn’t “apples for apples”.

  • Yes! Our full-service design + documentation allows for cabinetry, internal finishes, lighting design and electrical fitting selection and plumbing fixtures.

If you would like to extend beyond the scope to create spaces with more layers, furniture and art selection we can allocate more time to the project.

We have a relationship with several local furniture stores and would love the opportunity to select pieces.

  • Absolutely!
